KALiE RAE, MSW, RSW
Kalie was a visual and performing artist who shifted her intention to using the arts as a tool for healing. Attending graduate school as a mature student, Kalie earned a Masters in Creative Arts Therapies in Drama Therapy from Concordia University and a Master of Social Work specializing in Children and Families from McGill University. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University in theatre, fashion and fine arts, Kalie continues to create art and is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of TV and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
Kalie has enjoyed working with children and families for nearly 15 years in public and private primary and secondary schools in the Greater Montreal Area as well as in private practice. She has facilitated interactive parenting workshops and teacher trainings on topical issues, as well as classroom interventions for developing social-emotional skills, resilience and empathy in children.
Kalie also works with adults of all ages who might be dealing with grief and loss, anxiety, relationship challenges, depression, burn-out, life transitions and intrusive thoughts. She possesses a range of therapeutic intervention tools including art, role-play, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural strategies, brief solution-focused therapy, and somatic work - tuning into the body to release stuck places through guided visualization and inner dialogue.
In addition to launching Creative Therapy Montréal, Kalie works as a part-time School Counsellor at the Alexander von Humboldt German International School in Baie d’Urfé with students from pre-k to grade 12.
Kalie’s commitment as a life-long learner motivates her to seek opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills, and to keep up to date with latest research and best practices.
Kalie is a member of the Order of Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists of Quebec (OTSTCFQ) as well as a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW).
